Anyone out there that installed HID lamps on your Sky have a problem with them flickering or blinking when the system switches from headlights to Day-time Running Lights?

I know all about this... Fixed it, too.

When I first got my HIDs they flickered in Daytime Running Light (DRL) mode when I turned them on, then they ended up with one on and one off. This is caused by the fact that the SKY uses a reduced power setting for the DRLs. This makes the incandescents burn less brightly, but proves an insufficient amount of power to drive both DRLs. Therefore, as a result, they flicker for a while and eventually one gets enough power to be lit while the other goes off completely. Not a good thing.

You can pull the DRL fuse from the fuse box to turn them off completely. I didn't like that approach.

My HIDs are from KappaSphere. They now provide a harness and a relay that fixes the problem. What it does is the relay senses the low current signal to the headlights, and uses that to trip a relay that then draws full power from the battery. The harness runs separate power leads to the battery and forms a bridge between the ballasts and the bulbs themselves. With this in place, when the headlights are in reduced power DRL mode they still get a full dose of power via the harness. It works perfectly. Now I have automatic DRLs that do not flicker at all, and light up to full intensity, so that other friends of the road can see my cool HID headlights day or night.

If you follow this link it proves a full set of instructions (with photos) on installing the harness, getting the DRLs to work properly, mount the relay and wrap the wires to make it look all pretty under the hood:
